Speech Recognition
Used to transcribe your voice recording into text during book task submissions. Transcription is performed using Apple's on-device Speech framework. Audio data may be sent to Apple's servers as part of the system speech recognition service, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Camera
Used to photograph the start and end pages of your reading session as proof of reading. Photos are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded.
1.3 Screen Time Data
Screnox uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks to monitor app usage and apply shields. This data is managed by the operating system and is not accessible to us beyond what is necessary to trigger and remove app shields on your device.
1.4 Data We Do Not Collect
- Name, email address, or account credentials
- Location data
- Advertising SDK or analytics tracker data
- Health or fitness data
- Contacts, calendar data, or other personal app data
2. How We Use Your Information
All data collected by Screnox is used solely to provide the app's core functionality:
- Task tracking: recording completed tasks, awarding points, and maintaining streaks.
- Progress display: showing daily and historical activity inside the app.
- Screen time management: applying and removing app shields based on your points balance.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.
3. Data Storage and Security
All user data, including task records, journal entries, photos, and points history, is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Data is protected by your device's built-in security, including passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and iOS data protection.
We do not operate servers that store your personal data. No data is transmitted to our infrastructure.
4. Third-Party Services
Apple Speech Recognition
When you use the voice recording feature, your audio is processed by Apple's Speech Recognition service. This is subject to Apple's own privacy policy. You can disable this permission at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition > Screnox.
Apple Screen Time / Family Controls
Screnox integrates with Apple's Screen Time framework to manage app shields. This integration does not give us access to your browsing history, app usage details, or other Screen Time data beyond what is needed to set and remove shields for the apps you configure.
No other third-party SDKs, analytics services, or advertising networks are integrated into Screnox.
5. Children's Privacy
Screnox is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Access and deletion: because all data is stored on your device, you can view and delete it at any time by deleting the app. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data permanently.
Permissions: you can revoke microphone, speech recognition, and camera permissions at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security. Revoking a permission disables the corresponding feature but does not affect other app functionality.
Screen Time integration: you can disable Screnox's Screen Time access in Settings > Screen Time.
7. Data Retention
Data is retained on your device for as long as the app is installed. We do not retain any copies of your data on external servers. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all associated data.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last Updated date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
